Technology leader backed by more than 35 years of experience in the wireless communications industry, Mike Heath is co-founder and VP, Program Management for Able Device. Most recently, Heath has excelled in the successful launch of several new products in the M2M/IoT market requiring engineering management of technically challenging development projects. This experience spans the spectrum from cellular, two-way, and back-haul communications systems for several Fortune 500 companies including Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, Harris-Stratex, and Motorola as well as founding Cross-Tek, a wireless engineering services consulting business for assisting wireless adopters in the development of new products.
In addition to the engineering management consulting business, Heath was Program Manager for Harris-Stratex from 2007 – 2009 where he managed the equipment sales and installation services business unit for wireless back-haul and private area network communications networks for the US Northeast and Midwest sales regions. Before coming to Harris-Stratex, Mike held several positions at Ericsson and Sony Ericsson beginning in 1997 involving product development, product launches, product life cycle management, and business case analysis for cellular M2M products. As Product Planner for Sony Ericsson, Heath detailed and analyzed the competitive landscape of M2M products while obtaining an MBA degree from Liberty University. As Product Manager, he was responsible for business case analysis and product life cycle management for several cellular product lines. While at Ericsson, Heath served as Project Manager for the development of several M2M cellular module products.
Previous to this time, Heath led the development of many challenging products in the Automotive and Aerospace industry where new emerging technologies were taken from the research lab and developed into new leading edge products. As a member of the Senior Staff for Lord Corporation Research Division, Heath was involved in the development of high performance, high reliability acoustic and vibration isolation products for the Aerospace market. Experience in the automotive field was also obtained while developing engine control sensors while at Borg-Warner Automotive, Sensor Division.
Prior to moving to the highly charged Research Triangle Park, NC region, Heath obtained his Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Florida Atlantic University while employed by Motorola Communications Division in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he developed high reliability radio communications products. He remains close to technology combining engineering management and business analysis to M2M/IoT product development teams successfully bringing new products to market.
